This glossary serves as my own definitions in diversity and multicultural class at Midland University.
Ableism
Prejudice and hate towards disabled people.
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
American law that prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in all areas of life: transportation, jobs, etc.
Apartheid
comes from a word "apart", seperation, a policy in South Africa that discriminated races between each other
Bigotry
prejudice is a synonym of this noun, hate towards people from certain group
Cultural Competence
the ability to understand and interact with different cultures
Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT)
research - based approach to teaching; based on different cultures, languages and experiences around the world to teach children on what they are good at and not what they cannot do
Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
a law that makes mandatory free education with children with disabilities
Emigrant
a person that either has to leave or choses to leave home country to settle in another one
Inclusion
an action of being included within a group or structure; big controversy is inclusion of people with disabilities in Europe where everyone is being basically thrown into one basket by EU parliament
Indigenous
Something original that has been there for a while.
Intersectionality
analysis of social and political aspects that combine different modes of discrimination and privilege
Kinship
family relationships, as a word can be used "I felt kinship to..."
LGBTQ
The name is based out of acronyms of different sexualities that people identify their genders by.
Literacy
the ability to write and read

Meritocracy
Could be a social system or a society that is lead by people based on their skills and abilities rather than their history, family or bureaucracy.
Microaggressions
These are small attacks towards minorities and different races. Showing power over another human being.
Privilege
an advantage that is granted to a particular person
Racism
Comes from a word "race". It is a belief and prejudice that different races are different in behavior and that one is superior than the other. Racism is belief that one race is better than the other.
Religion
Peoples' belief in something beyond this planet. Usually personal gods and their rules of living but ultimately it is something people belief that cannot be described by science.
Social Justice
Social Justice is a state of society where everybody is acceptable and is punished for what is wrong and everybody gets a fair chance without bribery and inadequate behavior.
Social Reproduction Theory
an idea behind this theory is that bourgeois economics where a social system reproduces itself, however this goes beyond political and economical views
Socialization
a person socializes by accepting unwritten rules of a group or a society and behaves with respect upon them
Uncivil
not polite
Values
values of life are in respect and behavior towards each other, values are also mathematically described numbers of wealth or things
